Vein Conditions Austin

Vein conditions are a common problem treated at the Austin, Texas practice of Dr. John Hovorka. Veins are a part of our circulatory system. Did you know there are over 20 miles of veins in the average leg? Often these "roads" are only a problem when your blood "takes a wrong turn" or the road it wants to travel on is blocked. Blockages or obstructions make veins find another way to function. Sometimes the obstruction is partial and sometimes it is complete, and sometimes the blockage will come and go, making each individual's vein condition entirely unique. Veins are a complex part of our circulation. The heart pumps blood filled with oxygen and nutrients through arteries to the individual cells of our body and the blood returns through veins. Because our veins have a lower pressure than the arteries, gravity is against the return of blood as most humans are upright, and standing on our feet.

Dr. Hovorka

Dr. John Hovorka in Austin and McAllen, Texas believes with the latest advances in Phlebology (the study of veins), a patient should never be afraid of peripheral vascular disease. Many patients feel they have "bad circulation" and nothing can be done to alleviate their symptoms. This is far from the truth. There are so many exciting options for arterial, venous and lymphatic problems. Please see our Vein Procedures page for our list of latest inventions, innovations and answers. Symptoms: When we discuss symptoms, most of us think of them as aesthetic. The more visible our veins are, the more it bothers us. However, with venous disease, it is usually the large "feeder veins" or the veins that you cannot see that give us the most trouble.
