Sclerotherapy Austin
Sclerotherapy, carried out by Dr. John Hovorka at his Austin, Texas practice is the injection of a solution which is an irritant or sclerosant to the vein wall. When sclerotherapy is performed after another procedure or with it and it is planned this is referred to as adjuvant treatment. When it is used for small red and blue veins this type of sclerotherapy is usually for cosmetic purposes. At All in Veins, the high end form method of sclerotherapy is called CLaCS which stands for Cryo Laser and Cryo Sclerotherapy.
Fewer side effects:
This method was designed to have fewer side effects (bad effects) than other substances that are also used for sclerotherapy (see below). Dr. Hovorka has treated thousand of patients with this advanced and safe technique. The CLaCS technique is used to treat patients as well as to teach the technique which uses laser energy (light), cold air (Cryo 6), and a safe, non-allergic sclerosant agent to bring natural gentle care for you veins. CLaCS is generally used for small cosmetic purposes there are patients for whom a non-allergic sclerosant agent is ideal. Foam Sclerotherapy: Some sclerotherapy agents like Sodium Tetradecyl Sulfate (STS) and Polidocinol are "soap based" and will form foam when mixed in certain ways. Foam sclerotherapy is effective and is commonly used in North America. Foam sclerotherapy is used for cosmetic as well as non-cosmetic (medically necessary) uses. Other sclerotherapy agents are also available for use. Alcohol is used as a sclerosant agent although usually only for very specific cases and not commonly for cosmetic uses due to the high risk of side effects (bad effects).
