Radiofrequency Vein Therapy Austin

cosmeticveins3.jpgRadioFrequency is a procedure which uses a RadioFrequency Wave (that is where it gets its name).  For small or cosmetic veins the effect is of thermocoagulation is effective and can safely treat telangiectasias (red and blue veins) and spider veins anywhere on the body.  Veinwave is a thermocoagulation treatment using high-frequency energy delivered through an ultra-fine insulated needle to heat the affected blood vessels.  The radiofrequency vein therapy procedure offered at our Austin, Texas clinic of Dr. John Hovorka, All In Veins, causes the sides of the blood vessel to stick together, preventing the blood flow causing the dilated veins to be visible.  The end result is essentially instantaneous disappearance of the veins.  A session lasts approximately a half hour minutes to perform and involves minimal pain and no downtime.

These procedures were developed as a way to treat the very tiny veins that could not be completely treated with Sclerotherapy.  There are multiple RadioFrequency systems with the idea being to deliver more accuracy than transdermal laser treatment to treat and eliminate the smallest of spider veins, all size facial veins and Rosacea.  RadioFrequency can also be used to treat veins in difficult locations, including the face, ankles, and knees.

There can be some "crusting" type of effect as a side effect of the treatment.  There can be some scarring and pigmentation of the skin associated with these types of treatments as well.

Advantages of RadioFrequency types of therapy are decreased numbers of treatments and therefore the ability to bring vein ablative technology to large numbers of patients and at a lower cost.

veinslegs.jpgDisadvantages are side effects and inability to specifically target "feeder veins" as in CLaCS.  The disadvantages of the original RadioFrequency devices used for trandermal vein ablation are theoretically minimized in newer generations of RadioFrequency devices. This type of treatment described is not to be confused with RadioFrequency devices approved for Saphenous and perforant vein ablation.  Different RadioFrequency devices are also used for cosmetic uses to tighten skin and melt fat.  Please call All in Veins in Austin, Texas to see if this procedure is right for you.
