Laser Liposuction Austin
Laser liposuction, or laser-assisted lipolysis, performed at the Austin, Texas practice of Dr. John Hovorka, is a laser-based procedure that uses the laser to liquefy and remove fat cells. A side effect had been found that the skin contracted. This is now considered one of the keys of the laser giving the ability to tighten and lift the skin without any noticeable scars and no long downtime. Dr. Hovorka uses CoolLipo for the best skin tightening to give more youthful and natural looking.
Melt fat and tightening skin with advanced laser surgery:
Dr. Hovorka was one of the first Surgeons in the United States to use the Laser to perform Laser Liposuction when the CoolTouch Laser received FDA approval in 2007 and had previously used lasers in his Vein practice for many years. The point of minimally invasive surgery is that to some degree if the result can be accomplished with a smaller incision, the "inflammatory reaction" (trauma to the tissue) is significantly less. Dr. Hovorka believes Laser Liposuction is the most advanced minimally invasive way to tighten the skin without long down-times or unsightly scars.![]()
Laser Liposuction vs. Tummy Tuck:
Adding laser to the liposuction allows Dr. Hovorka to give tightening results that were previously only seen with a tummy tucks or abdominoplasty. Dr. Hovorka believes that results can usually be achieved with modern, more minimally invasive techniques, without a large incision, drains and long down times as with the traditional tummy tuck. From performing tummy tucks and abdominoplasties himself in surgical residency, to practicing traumatic surgery for over five years as an attending surgeon and continuing to maintain hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) privileges at hospital wound care centers, Dr. Hovorka has often been called when a patient has a large gaping wound after a tummy tuck.
These patients must wait for the granulation to form to allow wounds to heal by secondary intention. Some patients who have diabetes and other co-morbidities have a more difficult time getting their wounds to heal even after adjuvant hyperbaric oxygen therapy, so Dr. Hovorka must perform serial debridements (cutting out the dead tissue so the skin can heal together). Often times the large incision and resulting scar of a tummy tuck can end up looking extremely disfiguring to the patient.
Minimally Invasive:
Dr. Hovorka believes if your goals can be safely achieved without large incisions it is best to do so. Laser Liposuction may allow skin to tighten that otherwise would have to be surgically excised. For fat removal, often Dr. Hovorka combines Water Assisted Liposuction as well as other advanced liposuction platforms to achieve both fat reduction and tightening all in one minimally invasive procedure.
