Instructions for Out of Town Patients

womanlaptop.jpg

At All in Veins there are two ways to conduct a consultation for our Out of Town Patients. The first and most ideal way is to fly in for a face to face initial consultation. During this time, our office will make you a priority, and accommodate our schedule to fit your dates. On your consultation day, you will meet with Dr. Hovorka and go over the specifics of your desired procedure. You will also meet with Wendy, our Patient Care Coordinator, who will go over your pre and post op requirements.  Also, Wendy can provide financing information and answer any questions you may have.  You will leave our office with a folder made especially for you with all the important information including a price quote. This folder will also include the list of the necessary pre-op medical clearances.  Should you need assistance with any of these steps, do not hesitate to call Wendy.

Virtual Consultation:

If you are unable to fly in for your consultation, we are able to schedule a virtual consultation with Dr. Hovorka. This is the same type of consultation you would be given in person, only your consultation is presented via Telephone or Skype. This will still enable you to discuss your desired procedure with Dr. Hovorka and address and questions or concerns.   During the virtual consultation, Dr. Hovorka must have photographs of yourself so he can better address your needs. Please be assured that your photographs are highly confidential and will become part of your private medical record. Once we have received the photos, your medical information, consent, and you have spoken with Dr. Hovorka, we can either mail or fax out information made for you including a price quote. This information will also include a list of necessary pre-op instructions. Our Patient Care Coordinator, Wendy, will be ready and available to answer any questions that you may have with this process via telephone or email.

Setting Up Your Procedure:

Once you have received your quote, your information, and all your questions have been answered, the next step would be to pick out a date for your procedure. Locking in a surgery date requires a non-refundable $500.00 and you can pay over the phone with a credit card. We do not accept credit cards on the day of surgery so you will need to make arrangements for your final payment before you arrive. This is due to the fact that we want you to focus on your surgery and not have any possible financial complications and related stress at the last minute. There are many different financing options and other forms of payments that can be discussed with you by our Patient Care Coordinator, Wendy.

The Next Step:

Your required blood work and medical clearance needs to arrive two weeks before your scheduled surgery date.  Both Dr. Hovorka and his nursing staff will review your results to make sure you are ready for surgery.  Depending on your age and requested procedure, there may be different requirements. Also, when planning your surgery, you will need to consider where you are going to stay and who will be taking care of you.  On our website you will find a list of hotels that are in the Domain Shopping Center.  There are hundreds of hotels located in Austin, but we prefer that you stay in proximity to our facility.  We also have detailed information on the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, which is located within a 15 minute drive from our practice.  Although all of Dr. Hovorka's procedures are minimally invasive with short recovery times, It is a safety requirement that all patients be monitored for at least the first 24 hours following your surgery. If you are coming alone, we can provide you with a Recovery Care Agency, which provides qualified caregivers as well as registered nurses who are experienced with surgery recovery.  This agency can also assist you in performing housekeeping, including laundry, dishes and cleaning lines, prepare meals and drinks, general shopping, grocery shopping, running errands such as prescription pick up and dry cleaning and providing companionship and emotional support.

A Comfortable Experience:

womanyoga.jpgA well planned out surgical experience will help you increase your peace of mind, safety and comfort.  If you are planning surgery, be sure to plan for a complete positive and successful experience. Dr. Hovorka and his staff are qualified and trained to help you with your experience every step of the way.
