EVLT Austin
Welcome to the new generation of vein treatments. In the past 10 years, many new successful vein closure techniques have been developed to replace the need for surgical vein stripping, a painful procedure associated with a long painful recovery time and unsightly scarring. EVLT, offered at our Austin, Texas practice, All In Veins, was FDA approved in 2002, and Dr. Hovorka was once of the first Surgeons in the United States to utilize this ground breaking technology.
What is EVLT?
EVLT is a minimally invasive, outpatient procedure that is performed in less than an hour to treat large and painful varicose veins. The laser energy minimizes the vein walls, shrinking them and closing the faulty vein so that the blood cannot flow through. The body then reabsorbs the vein, causing the blood flow to be re-directed to the healthier veins in the leg. This procedure takes under an hour with a safe local anesthesia and is done on an outpatient procedure basis.How is EVLT Performed?
Dr. Hovorka performs an Endovenous Laser Treatment by first conducting a non-invasive duplex ultrasound "mapping" of the main veins in the leg to determine the source of your venous disorder. The ultrasound is then used to guide placement of a thin, sterile, laser fiber into the abnormal Saphenous vein in the leg. This highly developed technique involves entering the greater Saphenous vein with a laser fiber to deliver laser energy that will thoroughly seal the entire length of the vein. After applying tumescent anesthesia to the vein, laser energy is used to seal the vein shut where the vein is incompetent (not useful). The body then reabsorbs the vein causing the blood flow to be re-directed to the healthier veins in the leg. Advantages of EVLT:

Recovery:
